Boil Alert

This past week, some areas in Saint Louis including: Ballwin, Bellerive, Bel-Nor, Bel-Ridge, Beverly Hills, Charlack, Chesterfield, Clarkson Valley, Country Life Acres, Creve Coeur, Crystal Lake Park, Des Peres, Edmundson, Frontenac, Glen Echo Park, Greendale, Normandy, Northwoods, Norwood Court and many more places had a Boil Alert.

How the Boil Alert Works
This Boil Alert started when there was a power outage in Saint Louis. The power outage led to no power [of course], and then they couldn't filter the water. So they put out an alert to tell people that to have safe water, they need to boil it.

How People Felt
Since September 7th, when the boil alert was lifted, people have had safe water and have been able to drink tap water. ”People were really frustrated to not be able to use the ice machine and water dispensers, but it was in everybody's best interest to keep us safe and healthy” Bonnie  [A 5th grader's mom] said about the water alert at Express Scripts, where she works.

Our World
But the people who did not get the water alert were not really affected. To be safe, people who were not affected by the water alert still bought gallons of water in case the boil alert spread to them. They were ready. But we can’t speak badly about this water situation because some people have to live everyday with very little water or even NO water. This Water Alert/Boil Alert was not so difficult to live with.
To be Safe
Just to be prepared, should you keep water jugs or other water things in your house just to be safe?
Yes! You should keep water jugs just in case something like this happens again. You would be ready!
