Socktober

Kids at Glenridge school make an impact  in their community

What is Socktober?
Socktober is a fun idea to help the homeless and it was started by Kid President (a youtuber). People all over the world could do it and all you really have to do is collect socks, money, or other warm things including blankets, coats, hats, or gloves. Everyone can make a change just by donating and that is what kids and teachers at Glenridge Elementary School in St. Louis, Missouri did.

Freeze Your Feet Challenge
One day in Mrs. Scotinos 5th grade class at Glenridge the kids were brainstorming ideas and one of the students named Lucia Del Pilar said
“We should start the Freeze your feet challenge”
If you are wondering what that is it’s a challenge where you put cold water and ice in a bucket and step into it so you can feel how it feels to not have socks and if you get nominated you get to nominate someone else and don’t forget to use
#Socktober.

How did Glenridge help?
Kids at Glenridge have been doing Socktober for all of October. A few things they did to help was collecting socks, money, and other warm clothing. There were also 3 days in October where if you brought in one dollar you got to do something and the 3 things you got to do were Wear socks in class on Oct. 24th, Wacky Wednesday on Oct. 26th, and on Friday Oct. 28th they got to wear pajamas.

How you can help
If you want to help you can go to the Socktober
